POWER Engineers Becomes Charter Member of SPED PPD 100% Club PDF Print E-mail

(Houston, TX, October 13, 2009) Longtime SPED Corporate Member POWER Engineers, Inc., of Hailey, ID has become a Charter Member of the SPED PPD 100% Club. The SPED Professional Piping Designer (PPD) 100% Club is a special group of SPED Corporate Members who pledge to have all their Piping Designers PPD Certified within a year of joining. Charter members of the PPD 100% Club are those who have pledged since board approval of the program in September and its formal rollout at the SPED Annual General Business Meeting and Corporate Member Showcase, November 17, 2009. POWER Engineers, a consulting engineering firm specializing in energy, facilities, communications, and environmental services, will begin with their Generation Mechanical offices in Boise and Hailey, ID.

 

POWER Engineers has been training and testing its piping designers for the last 3 years using the SPED training videos and proctored exams at local colleges. “We are committed to idea of trained and documented skills working on client projects,” says Steve Husler, Engineering Manager at POWER Engineers, Inc. “The SPED PPD program has been a useful resource for 3rd party staff credentialing. When the SPED PPD 100% Club was announced we were already there.”

 

Members of the SPED PPD 100% Club pledge to:

 

  • Obtain 100% PPD Certification of current pipers within 1 year of joining the program.
  • Require new hires achieve PPD Certified within 1 year of employment.
  • Permit SPED to visit HR to spot check rosters against PPD Certification Lists.

 

PPD 100% Club members can display the Club logo on all documents and websites pertaining to the listed corporate entities. There is no added cost for the Corporate Member to belong, other that testing, application and proctoring fees.

 

“SPED welcomes this pledge by POWER Engineers, to the PPD 100% Club,” said Jack Belden, SPED President. “They have already shown a strong commitment to Piping Designer professional development and the PPD program. We recognize this added step endorsing this industry-wide initiative.”

 

POWER Engineers has scheduled another proctored PPD exam in December. This exam, proctored by the College of Western Idaho (formerly the Larry G. Selland College of Applied Technology of Boise State University), will be the 4th for POWER Engineers. The exams given are online from SPED’s official test data.
